I’m not an animal rights person and I despise PETA. However I do think that animals, especially trusting ones like dogs, deserve compassion from us. If an animal must be killed, then it must be done quickly and humanely. Further, it must be done for a good reason.
That’s only a small part of why this makes me so mad that I could kill one of those soldiers. I’d very much like to tie the bastard up like he did that dog and do the same thing to him.

An act of ultimate “bravery”!??? Bravery my ass! How can killing a totally defenseless animal be considered anything but sicko, twisted masochistic savagery?
Let that guy loose on a pack of hungry wolves. If he gets away with his life then I’d consider him a brave fellow.
My money is on the wolves, however…..
The SS did similar exercises…recruits were given a puppy to raise, and at graduation directed to kill it. The goal was instant obedience to orders and deadening humanitarian response.
I heard about this yesterday in some of the comments on someone’s blog about this topic (I wish I could remember which one). I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by these things anymore. Given how cruel people can be to one another, I should know better than to expect better of them regarding animals.
