Almost Done

I went over to the title company this morning and signed a dizzing array of papers. The sellers will complete the process this afternoon, after which I will officially be the owner of a house (or at least the mortgage company will let me use it until the loan is paid off in 2033 :) ). I'll meet the agent at the house at 5:30 to pick up the keys.

Every so often since I've gotten back I catch myself saying, "Holy crap! I'm a homeowner." It seems a bit surreal.

Of course, one of my coworkers here brought it all into perspective when she said, "Welcome to the club of being broke all the time." Heh.

Congrats. It is a surreal experience. I STILL find myself saying, "Can I do that?" Then I answer myself, "Of course I can it's MY house."

Fortunately, I don't have that conversation out loud or I'd need to be locked up.

Congrats, man. I hope to join the ranks of the homeowners some time in the next few years as well.

And then on the other side of the coin you have my parents, who recently finished paying off their house (they pulled a lot of money out of non-retirement investment accounts a couple years ago to accelerate the payoff). Now that's *true* home ownership.

You'll love it Amigo. Its great to sit on YOUR property and survey the surroundings. Its a bitch of a job to get there but worth it.

Well, The thing is, always be broke at a higher level every year. Then you know you're on the right course.

Everyone, thanks for the kind words. I'm still adjusting my head to this whole home ownership thing. I think it won't really sink in until I've moved in and spent the first night there (hopefully that'll be 10/18).

Darren, I suspect that I may be hanging out there quite a bit in the future.
