Uno, Dos, Tres, What?

Has anyone else noticed on that U2 iPod commercial that Bono is saying, “Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce” at the beginning?  In English that comes out as “One, Two, Three, Fourteen.”  I’m not sure whether he’s doing it on purpose (for some arcane political reason that hasn’t been made known to us yet) or if he just didn’t realize it was supposed to be “cuatro.”  It bugs the hell out of me every time I hear it, though.

Heh.  Deb too!  It just rubs her the wrong way, all out of proportion.

They were probably just trying to be “cute” and catchy by using the strange enumeration.

Yeah, the first time I heard it I did a double take. I just assumed that I was ignorant about this particular bono song (along with all other bono songs) and that there must be a reason for it. Its annoying as hell though.

i think bono counts like that because the producer of their first three albums also did HTDAAB, their 14th, counting compilations and live albums. nice little tribute to steve lillywhite.

I have heard it is a tribute to Late Great John Ritter, as he said Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce!  while testing a microphone on a Three’s Company show.

I’m all about the John Ritter homage…
